What's on your bucket list?

Aug 12, 2024

I’m pausing to reflect.

We aren’t promised tomorrow.

Life really is short!

I recently lost a couple dear friends unrelated within a few weeks. Gone way too soon! I don’t like it at all.

My mind goes to work to find a lesson or a meaningful way of looking at things. I’m contemplating what else I want to do in my life.

Do you have a bucket list? Things you want to do at some point in your life? I don’t have an active list of things I want to do or accomplish on paper or even on the computer.

However, I’ve pondered things. When someone shares an experience or a place they’ve visited I know I’ve thought, “That sounds cool! I’d like to do that.”

But I’ve also sought out experiences that bring me joy and have contributed to my bucket list without me knowing it.

How would I have known that saying yes to hosting an exchange student for a year would change our lives?  Which eventually led to a trip to meet his family in Finland five years later. Several of the things we did during that year and on the trip are a part of my best moment’s list.

Traveling to Paris was the only place I had on my bucket list from when I was in High School, but I thought it would happen a different way. Instead of going with my senior French class, I embarked solo with encouragement from my daughter. I caught my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower on a quick ride on the Seine. I ate a croissant and sipped wine by Notre Dame. It was idyllic.

What are the things that would bring you joy? Is it an adventure, an experience or an activity? Have you created a list? Have you thought about it?

So, I’m asking myself what else do I want to experience in my life?

What am I waiting for? What are you waiting for?

Great question.  Could it be fear, the unknown, laziness, lack of focus, or all of the above.

Now is the time!
